Red Dress Day

Today, on the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit+ People (MMIWG2S+), we honour and remember the lives lost and the loved ones left behind.

The red dress is a powerful symbol representing those who are no longer with us and serving as a vivid call for justice, awareness, and change. Hanging empty, the red dress speaks volumes about the lives stolen and the voices silenced, while also standing as a sign of strength, resilience, and remembrance.

Our Indigenous Relations Circle has been working to foster understanding, awareness, and allyship across our organization. Recently, the group hosted a meaningful keychain-making class where employees created red dress keychains - small, handmade symbols of solidarity and remembrance.

Red Dress Day is a time to reflect, to learn, and to honour the stories that must not be forgotten.

Let us stand together in remembrance, raise awareness of the ongoing injustices, and support the healing and strength of Indigenous communities.
